This website consists of the Virtual Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) demo-application and a free download package with installation guide.
V-NMR is a software package that simulates the functionality of a liquid-state, high field NMR spectrometer. Given a (virtual) NMR sample, V-NMR calculates the corresponding NMR signal based on:
- the sample composition
- the NMR properties of the molecules in solution
- the value of the experimental parameters governing the acquisition (i.e. external magnetic field, pulse width, transmitter power, recovery delay, spectral width, receiver gain, acquisition time, etc.).
The V-NMR software package was developed to allow 1st grade students to perform (virtual) NMR experiments, without distracting large amounts of NMR spectrometer time from routine applications. The graphical interface, variables and commands employed in V-NMR are the same as in the V-NMR-J interface of a Varian NMR spectrometer. This allows a smoother transition from a virtual NMR environment to a real NMR instrument, making V-NMR an efficient tool for practical NMR training.
V-NMR is developed at the Radboud University Nijmegen, The Netherlands, by the V-NMR team.
